Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Social Justice, and Belonging (DEIJB)

The University of Hartford welcomes diverse individuals without regard to race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender identity or expression, age, socio-economic status, ability, learning disabilities or physical ability, sexual orientation, religious creed, or veteran status. This diversity forms and enhances our community – a community that we affirm in our Value, Mission, and Vision statements.

The University is deeply committed to ongoing efforts to create and cultivate a welcoming campus climate that is inclusive, and a community where students, faculty, and staff feel supported, safe, and valued.

To further demonstrate this commitment, numerous DEIJB workshops, trainings, and programs are provided.

Student Engagement and Inclusion

The Office of Student Engagement and Inclusion was introduced in 2019 to better align UHart resources with the diverse needs of students. Cultivating interconnected and inclusive communities that actively promote respect for all individuals and act intentionally with integrity results in more robust programming for students in collaboration with faculty and staff. It leverages decades of student-focused staff experience, with a goal of offering programs and services focused on creating co-curricular learning opportunities that enhance the personal, educational, leadership, cultural and social development for our students.
